VA Disability Compensation at 60%: Monthly Payment for Veterans Without Dependents

Veterans assigned a 60% disability rating by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) are eligible for substantial monthly compensation.

The benefit amount is influenced by the severity of the service-connected condition and the veteran’s family status.

Monthly Compensation for 60% Disability with No Dependents

As of the 2025 VA compensation rates, a veteran rated at 60% disability with no spouse, children, or dependent parents receives $1,395.93 per month.

This reflects a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) applied to preserve the benefit’s purchasing power, resulting in a $34.05 increase over the previous year.

Understanding the VA Disability Rating

The VA assigns disability ratings in 10% increments (from 10% to 100%) based on the extent to which a service-connected condition limits a veteran’s ability to work and perform daily activities.

A 60% rating indicates a significant level of impairment but not total disability.

Additional Benefits at 60% Rating

In addition to monthly payments, veterans at the 60% level may qualify for:

  • VA healthcare services and medications

  • Education and training assistance (e.g., GI Bill, VR&E)

  • Home loan guaranty through VA mortgage programs

  • Tax preparation support and financial counseling

  • Burial benefits, including plot allowances and funeral expense reimbursement

It’s getting more expensive to live—but you may qualify for financial relief!

Reminder

Your total compensation can increase if you have qualifying dependents.

Veterans should always review their status annually and report changes to avoid underpayment or overpayment.

For detailed information or to apply for benefits, consult the VA official website or contact your local VA regional office.
